When I lived in Florida, my boys and I frequently visited a grocery store called Piggly Wiggly. There was an older gentleman who used to sit out front playing his guitar. He was a homeless man, but he was also one of the kindest and most respectful people I have ever met. He would open the doors for us and greet everyone with a genuine warmth that you just couldn’t help but like.
He had a gentle soul and a kind heart that left a lasting impression on all of us. He was so impactful that my boys even wanted to have their picture taken with him. Meeting him was a reminder that a person’s character and how they treat others matters far more than their circumstances. That kind of quiet, respectful strength is something I still think about and appreciate today.
