My most influential teachers have not been found in a classroom, but in the presence of my dogs. They have taught me the true meaning of patience, respect, and unconditional love. Dogs have a way of living that the rest of the world could learn from. They don’t let the small things get to them; they simply live in the moment and stay happy.
Beyond that, they have taught me the true meaning of family. Their bond is so strong, and their pack structure shows a level of devotion and unity that is rare. Through them, I have learned to keep going and not sweat the small things. They remind me every day to have fun, enjoy life while I can, and love with all my heart. If we could all learn to live a little more like a dog, the world would be a much better place. That is why they heal our hearts one paw at a time.
The reason my dogs are my most influential teachers is because of their unwavering devotion. This bond has quite literally helped save my life by helping me manage my PTSD and anxiety. There are moments when the way Tovi just looks at me or watches over me gives me a sense of peace that I cannot find anywhere else. That level of loyalty has taught me how to have a better quality of life and how to stay grounded in the present. They show me every day that being there for someone, truly watching over them, is the greatest lesson in love there is.
